Description
San Francisco Ferry Building
This iconic building completed in 1898 survived both the 1906 earthquake and the Loma Prieta earth quake in 1989 with very little damage. I would consider this building the centerpiece of San Francisco. It's located at the foot of Market Street and the Embarcadero. The financial district is directly across the Embarcadero and Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 are behind me a mile or so away.
From San Francisco Bay this beauty stands out with it's 245 foot tall clock tower. Prior to completion of the Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge the San Francisco Ferry building was the second busiest in the world.
