Description
Wildcat Falls is a small waterfall by Yosemite standards. This fall would be considered large in most places as it falls 630 feet. The problem is that most of the fall is hidden and obscured by trees alongside the granite cliff that the water cascades down.
The fall is located about 3 miles inside the western entrance of Yosemite off of Highway 140. There is a small parking lot down the road a ways and a couple of small turnouts just down the road.
Once parked you follow a small deer trail to the stream near the roadway and then hike back a short ways through some trees to the base of the falls.
One of my favorite features of this waterfall is the lack of crowd that surrounds many of the other falls in the valley. One can sit below the fall and take in the sounds of the fall and the nature that is all around.
