Description
Yosemite Valley and Yosemite falls is viewed by more than 3 million people every year. Most of those people visit the park during the spring, summer and fall, while relatively few visit during the winter.
Winter time brings out some of the most dramaitic lighting and adverse weather conditions. It can be cold, snowy, rainy or warm and sunny all depending on what is blowing in off of the Pacific 4 to 8 hours earlier.
Yosemite Falls is the tallest waterfall in the park and in North America. The upper falls as viewed here is 1,430 feet tall with a total of 2, 425 feet from top to bottom.
This image was taken during unsettled weather early in the morning as a storm had moved through the valley hours earlier. The temperature was cold enough to keep the frozen beard around the falls in place.
