Description
Golden Canyon
Golden Canyon is a relatively easy hike in Death Valley. Keep in mind, I say this because I hiked this on a relatively cool 90 degree day in the early spring.
The hike takes you through an out and back round trip of 2 miles but millions of years in geological history. Evidence of earthquakes is all around. Slabs of layered rock tilted sideways due to quakes. Erosion from rain appears as smooth chutes dropping down from the side of the canyon.
At one time a road ran up this canyon but has mostly been destroyed due to flash flooding during a rain event as the desert reclaims it's place.
