I know that I don't recall the complete story of this monster of a gold drudge but I'll try to recall. It's really an amazing story. The pieces of this dredge were manufactured on the east coast of the United States, Pennsylvania, I believe. From there the parts were shipped on the railroad to San Francisco. Once they made it to San Francisco the assembled the dredge in San Francisco Bay to make sure that everything went together the way it was supposed to. Once fully assembled and tested the dredge was then disassembled on shipped in pieces up to Alaska. The dredge was then fully assembled in what is called the Davidson Ditch.
I really had a great time climbing around on this mechanical beast.
The dredge was in operations from 1928 through 1959.
