Description
Hawk at Point Reyes
I was out at Point Reyes shooting one of my favorite subjects, the abandoned Pt. Reyes in Inverness California. When I was done shooting I decided to drive deeper into the park.
I thought that I would see how the waves were breaking and to see if there might be any further photography opportunities to be had.
I had pulled off to one of the roads that lead down to the ocean parking and had my thoughts on what I was going to photograph. As I turned down the road I saw this beautiful hawk sitting on this branch within 10 feet of me. I stopped and grabbed my camera as quickly as possible. I was able to get 4 quick shots off before the hawk took to flight. It was a fleeting pleasure to witness this close up.
Note that I am not what you would call a birder. I am working under the assumption that this is a red tailed hawk but i could be wrong. There are 10 different species of hawks that call Point Reyes home.
