Description
Pictured Rocks Petit Portal
I spent a fair amount of my time on the Great Lakes growing up in Michigan. I've fished, boated, and swam in Lake Superior. The swim was brief. But in all my years living and or visiting Michigan did I ever visit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior until a recent visit.
We caught the boat out of Munising for a "3 Hour Tour".
The tour set out and once we turned out of the harbor at Sand Point we were exposed to the beautiful shoreline that is Pictured Rocks. The colors in the cliffs and the different rock formations make for a spectacular boat ride.
Here is the formation known as the Petit Portal, otherwise known as Lovers Leap. Legend is that when a young Native American Woman's loved one didn't return from a hunting trip that she threw herself off of the rock.

Really beautiful scene with gorgeous colors and texture on the cliff. I like the way I can see land through the arch.
