Description
Marble Canyon II
Marble Canyon is just one of many canyons that make up the Grand Canyon. It starts at Lees Ferry and continues to the Little Colorado River.
John Powell named it Marble Canyon becuase he thought that the polished limestone looked like marble.
The Colorado River cuts through the center and the water runs swiftly. The limestone colors vary from pink, black, gray, and purple. At this point we are a couple of thousand feet below the South Rim of the canyon. This was the view that we had for our first night on the river.
