NOTE: The watermark will not appear on any prints purchased through FAA. My first trip to Yellowstone was awe inspiring. I can't imagine another place like this on earth.
We entered the park from Western Montana and within 5 miles we saw a small heard of elk. Of course cars lined the road and there were probably 100 people out of their cars gawking at them. This heard was all female or young elk and they really were interesting to watch. After a while we decided to move on and see some other parts of the park.
We drove up to the Mineral Hot Springs and had a very enjoyable day and may be a future topic.
We drove around the park visiting different areas checking out waterfalls, enjoying the mountains and even saw a couple of bear.
On the way back into West Yellowstone there was a large open meadow with easily a hundred cars stopped along the road.
I decided to stop and see what everyone was looking at. Secretly I was hoping that it might be a grizzly bear.
Instead we came across this huge elk. Now the elk are considered part of the deer family and it is one of the largest land animals in North America.
