Bridalveil Falls is one of the major waterfalls in Yosemite National Park. This waterfall is seen by millions of people every year. During the spring time the water coming over the edge creates such a large mist that it is very difficult at best to hike to the bottom of the falls. In the later part of the year these falls can be reduced to a trickle or completely dry up due to the diminished snow pack and lack of rain that California experiences during the long hot summer.
Bridalveil falls is large by most standards at 617 feet but is small when compared to more widely recognized Yosemite Falls.
Bridalveil Falls is fed mainly by Ostrander Lake roughly ten miles to the south of the fall.
Native Americans from the Ahwahneechee Tribe called this waterfall Pohono, meaning "The Spirit of the Puffing Wind:.
