Description
I live in Northern California very near the Napa Valley and the heart of the Northern California Wine growing region. Being so close to the vineyards and the wineries it's really a shame that I don't actually spend more time shooting this area.
My favorite times in the Napa Valley is on the spring as the plants are starting to bud and during the right before and after the harvest. Depending on the grapes being grown the vines can turn as bright orange or red as any hardwood in New England.
So I was up in the valley during the early morning in the spring time and since the vines had barely begun to bud I thought that I would shoot some black and white.
Just south of Calistoga I started crossing the valley on one of the many roads that cross from Highway 128 and the Silverado Trail. This particular vineyard caught my eye as it was close to the road and had easy access to it.
I started out walking into the vineyard looking for the right perspective and angle for what I was looking for. As I set up my tripod and was adjusting the camera for the shot the irrigation system kicked in. I quickly took the shot and got out of there before my equipment and myself got soaked.
