Yellowstone is a magical place full of many magical places. There are so many places and things to see in Yellowstone and so many different ways to see them.
You can look at the big picture with the big mountains and the big sky and all of the grand views or you can look at it close up and personal like I did here.
Yellowstone river flows out of Yellowstone Lake down into the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. I don't know how long the river is, I'm sure I could look it up. But I'd rather get to know it in a more intimate way.
Here we have just a small portion of the river as it rushes over the edge of Lower Yellowstone Falls. Not too far upstream is the Upper Yellowstone Falls. The river doesn't seem to have much time to catch it's breath between the two. Once it falls over the edge here it drops into the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone through multiple series of rapids.
Once the river leaves the canyon I'm not sure where it runs off to. I didn't follow it or see during this trip. Maybe I'll find that out during my next trip. I'm sure there will be one, God willing.
This will be a river I hope to see many times during many seasons. I'm looking forward to seeing this river moving through this chasm like a mad dog during the spring. Maybe someday I will see this during the cold of winter. Does, this fall freeze, I don't know but would like to find out.
