Description
Mt Lassen From Lake Manzanita.
Mt. Lassen is the southernmost Volcanic peak in the Cascade Range and is located about an hour east of Redding California.
The mountain rises roughly 2,000 ft above the surrounding terrain and is one of the largest volcanic domes on earth.
I spent a few days up at Mt Lassen recently and hiked to the top of this beautiful mountain. The hike is not for the weak as it starts at 8500 ft above sea level and the peak is at 10,500. The air is thin but the trail is well maintained. From the peak you can look across the valley over to it's sister mountain, Mt Shasta. Very pretty indeed and well worth the hike.
