Description
McArthur-Burney Falls
This beautiful waterfall is located about 45 minutes to an hour east, north east of Redding California and is part of the Cascade Range.
The park and surrounding area's geology was created mainly by volcanic activity in the area over thousands of years.
There are many layers of rock, some porous and some not. As the rain in the area seeps into the ground the water flows through the porous layers and creates an underground reservoir. In this picture you can see the water flowing down the Burney Creek and over the falls. You can also see where the water is flowing out of the underground reservoir through the porous rock in the side of the cliff.
The water flowing out of the side of the rock is so unique I could sit and watch it for hours.
