Description
Living in the Bay Area presents me with many excellent vistas to point my camera at. If you go through my gallery you'll notice a good handful of images of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is said that the Golden Gate Bridge is the most photographed bridge in the world. That would not surprise me as the area is very photogenic.
The fact that the bridge has good access from all sides and the view is very different from each of these perspectives adds the beauty of the bridge. Then you throw in the varying weather that can change quickly through the Golden Gate and the lighting that accompanies these changes in the weather and it seems like you never end up with the same image.
This image was taken a few years ago as I was headed over to San Francisco to pick up my daughter at a dance that she was attending. The dance ended at midnight and had always wanted to photograph the bridge at night so I left early for the city.
I stopped at a parking lot just above the bridge on the northwestern side of the bridge in Marin County. Walked out along the road looking for a good vantage point. I saw the lit towers of the bridge with the city in the background and the full moon rising up over the city and knew that I was in the right spot for the image I wanted. As a bonus, with a longer than normal exposure and a fairly calm see below I was able to capture the reflection of the bridge on the Pacific Ocean below.
