Description
The Cheboygan Crib.
The Cheboygan Crib Lighthouse is owned and operated by the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers. This lighthouse sits at the mouth of the Cheboygan River and Lake Huron in what is now Gordon Turner Park.
The crib is known as a light because it doesn't have a structure where a keeper lives. The original sight was at one time a small man made Island on Lake Huron but since that time the light was moved to it's current location on the mainland.
Originally built in 1884 the crib has gone through a number of renovations. The original building was made of wood and replaced with concrete in 1903.
