Description
Avalanche III.
Avalanche III is now the fourth in the series of captures that I caught while skiing at Snowbird out in Utah in the Rocky Mountains.
Starting with the Cornice Blast where the ski patrol set off roughly 30 charges to blow a dangerous cornice from the ridge over looking the ski resort.
Avalanche II shows the snow coming off a cliff and just touching down on the next slope below.
This frame shows how the snow starts to spread out once again.
If you look at the leading edge of this avalanche you can see that it is not actually rolling down the mountain as you would think. It actually seems to be accelerating underneath the surface layer and blowing the fresh powder upwards.
