Filoli Tulips.
Filoli is a country estate located in Woodside California. To make a long story short the Filoli estate was donated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation back in 1975 by the Roth family with an endowment for the maintenance of the estate.
The home is 36,000 square feet and the main floor is open for tours as is the 16 acre Italian Renaissance Garden.
The garden itself is designed with mostly native plants that survive well in the California climate. One of the things that does stand out, especially in the spring is the number, size, and quality of all of the tulips planted in and around the garden. The tulips are planted fresh every year as the first year blooms offer the highest quality bloom. This is just a small sample of the tulips that are planted at the Filoli Mansion. The real number is somewhere in the thousands.
