Description
This image of Half Dome and the Merced River was taken from the Stoneman Bridge in Yosemite Valley.
I was there right near mid day and the light was a little on the flat side so I decided to capture the seen in High Dynamic Range.
High Dynamic Range is a process where you take 3 or more photographs of the same scene and adjust the exposure length for each shot. This allows for the shot to be over exposed underexposed and then a middle exposure value. Once these are put on the computer I run them through a program that blends all three of the exposures.
By dong this I eliminate the shadows and am able to pull out more detail than would be possible during lighting conditions such as what was available at the time.
I really like this as it pulls out very nice criso detail on the Douglass Firs lining the river. It also allowed me to pull the greens out of the water.
