Description

Tunnel View. This has to be my favorite view of nature in all the world. This is located on State Highway 41 and is one of the first views that most of the vistors to the park will see of Yosemite Valley.
Many who visit during the summer see a crystal clear view of the valley all the back to Half Dome and Clouds rest. These are both obscured in this image.
On the right in this image is Bridalveil Falls. Bridalveil Falls is one of the most prominent waterfalls in the park. Bridalveil Falls is also one of the waterfalls that flows year around in the park.
Behind Bridalveil Fall in this picture is the first of the Three Brothers. The three Brothers is a series of rock formations with trangular shaped peaks lined up behind Bridalveil Falls.
On the left side of the image is El Capitan. El Capitan is one of the most recognized rock formations in the world. El Capitan sits on the North side of the valley and extends 3,000 ft from the floor of the valley to the nose of the peak. The shear vertical walls are famous for rock climbing and during the summer climbers can be spotted on the face with a good pair of binoculars.
The fog flowing throught the valley here adds a dramatic touch to the valley. Underneath the layer of fog is the Merced River. At the time this picture was taken the pace of the Merced River was picking up and the current was quit strong. As winter drags more snow piles up in the higher altitudes of the park. During the spring when the weather warms up and the sun starts melting the snow that is stored up the waterfalls flow peak and the river runs hard.
