Description
Petaluma River II.
I spent my teen years growing up on a river in the Midwest. Because of this I have many memories of life on a river. Most of them are good.
Whenever life got too busy or when I just needed to take a break I could walk down to the dock and just sit and relax while watching the river flow by.
Some rivers flow hard and fast, others slow and easy. Some both, depending on the time of year or recent weather events.
The Petaluma River is typically a very lazy river with a nice calming affect for those that can find the time to sit and enjoy its presence.
There are only a handful of access points to the river, most of them in and around the town of Petaluma itself. This image was captured about halfway between the City of Petaluma and the San Pablo Bay at a small marina/restaurant down along Lakeville Highway. At the time of this capture there had been some heavy rains and a receding tide making what is normally a very slow and lazy river into a river that was deceptively fast. This can be seen by the small wake coming off the bow of the yellow sailboat.
