Description
Peace Barn brings me back many years although this is a fairly recent image. This barn is located in the village of Bliss Michigan, about a half hour from where I grew up. Bliss normally consist of a general store and a post office and is very quiet for 51 weeks out of the year.
During mid summer around the first week of July the Blissfest opens for three days of music and arts. The makeshift campground houses thousands and the little village of Bliss becomes the largest village north of Traverse City and south of the Mackinaw Bridge.
As a teen I was able to attend the first few Blissfest before I moved to California. I was able to revisit the Blissfest a few years ago and was completely surprised at how it had grown. What started out as one small main stage and a couple of makeshift areas for other musicians to get together had grown into a venue housing three stages that attracts national acts.
This barn is off limits to the general public as it is 'backstage", a place for the musicians to hang out before/after they play.
Good times are had by all.
