Description
Gray Barn.
The Gray Barn out on Riggsville Road is iconic to me, as is Riggsville Road.
This structure fits into the surrounding area as well as any other farm house or out building. The acreage is large as the land is cheap.
People work hard out here on Riggsville Road. The growing season is short and the winters are hard. Most of the summer is spent making sure that the crops are planted, irrigated, and harvested before the long winter days set in.
Life is simple out here and you need to keep things basic.
Good hardworking people live out here on Riggsville Road. But when the work is done, the hay is on the barn and the corn is harvested the people out here also know how to celebrate and party.
Riggsville Road was the main artery between Cheboygan and Pellston Michigan. I see more cars pass my house on my suburban street where I live today than would pass on this main artery all day. Most folks weren't in a big hurry either. Most people knew each other even though their homes may have been miles away.
Not everything was all innocence but we won't go into that here. Let's just say that there was plenty of room to grow.
