Description
I found a group of Calla Lillies growing outside the Napa Mill. Normally when I find these beautiful flowers they show some signs of heat damage with some blackening on the outside edge of the flower. These particular lillies were perfect. The flower grows from a thick stem and has a rough resemblance of the horn of a trumpet.
These flowers are native to Southern Africa and do well in a tropical environment.
They grow from a bulb and therefore can be split and replanted. They are very hardy and can grow in almost any soil as long as the climate is hunid enough to support them.
The Calla Lily is very hardy and grows continously when watered and fed regularly. It even has the ability to survive minor frost. This plant is naturalized and regarded as a weed throughout most of the world.
Plant growers in California are working and producing hybrid versions of this flower.
My camera does have some limitations and I wished to go even clower on this image but my lense wasn't able to focus that close.
I do like the sowtness of the white in this bloom and the fact that it is as near as perfect as any of these lillies I have ever seen.
I do hope that all those that come to view this image take the time to admire the simple design and beauty of this magnificant flower.
